...Las Estacas, a deep paradise
The pools and splashing areas keep the kids happy.
Las Estacas, since 1998, is a natural reserve of the State of Morelos because it is the habitat of a high percentage of species of flora and fauna in the region. With a space of 24 hectares, it lodges eleven species of aquatic plants, 65 species of terrestrial plants, 132 birds, ten species of fish, and eight species of mammals. It also has magnificent recreative and service installations. Its owners, the Saravia family, supported by the Investigation Center of Universidad Autonoma de Morelos, is carrying out a Master Plan for the Eco-Tourist Management of Natural Resources, which has involved the people of the communities adjoining the park. As a result of this project, the park already has a plant nursery to restore vegetation and a fishpond to restore native fish.

How to reach Las Estacas

Going on the road to Cuernavaca, we take the expressway Mexico-Acapulco. We must go on the right trail to take, further ahead, the detour that enters Paseo Cuaunahuac-Civac.-Cuautla. We continue on this path, which later on becomes a road. Almost immediately we see a sign announcing a place called Cañon del Lobo that passes through two hills. We cross that and, five minutes later, we take to the right where it says Tlaltizapan-Jojutla. We continue on this path and, about ten minutes later, we arrive at Natural Acuatic Park Las Estacas, which is to the left.
