Madrid,
the City that never sleeps
Arriving to Madrid is like
been received by a Donna that

shows as herself she is,

with her charms and imperfections

of the huge metropolis. It is here

where modern and the ancient

cultures combine, and takes

us through the streets as if it was

a time machine, showing us its

the history and reason to being.
View of the Metropolis building, at the Alcala's corner (Gran VÏa). The night is lighted for the Madrilians and the streets recover life.
The Gran VÌa (origin of the modern Madrid), comprises and infinity number of hotels and stores, is a great artery crowned with the Plaza de España which is the equivalent to the Time Square from New York, the space to take the pulse of the city, to walk and admire the beautiful Cervantes monument. The people from Madrid enjoy green areas at the Retiro Park (lung of the city) and the Botanical Garden. Someone who has not enjoyed a glass of wine at midnight at any terrace, pub or nightclub has not visited Madrid. Going to the movie, the theater or only meeting with the friend to go from pub to pub, gave birth to the famous "marcha" it is a night life difficult to find in other latitudes

The Alcala street leads us to the Puerta del Sol, the heart of Spain, with its monument to Carlos III (benefactor of the city) and the sculpture "Oso y Madroño" emblem of the city. Few blocks from there is the great "Plaza Mayor", where the Ayuntamiento building and the Casa de la Panaderia ( Bakery house) stand out, Baroque and neoclassic constructions which dates back Austrias, XVII and XVIII century.

Walking through the center of the city becomes an exciting experience. "El Paseo de la Castellana", with the "Recoletos" and "El Prado" - (which are the continuations of the first) constitute the main road that crosses the city from north to south, that takes to some magical triangles. One is formed by the Palace Hotel, Ritz Hotel and the Cibeles square (undoubtedly the most beautiful square, guarded by the Telecommunications Palace, Puerta de Alcala and the Bank of Spain ) Another one is between the Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Queen Sofia's museum , making of Madrid an important cultural center. There is a third one formed by the East square, Royal Palace and the Opera Theater.
