Miami
to the rhythm of the sun
Visiting Miami is encountering the most "foreign" of

American cities, since it still lives the influx of the finances

and cinemapioneers, and the immigrants and tourists from

around the world.

Miami Beach, formed by almost 15 km of beaches, is like a cruise anchored in land thanks to its festive environment and geography. Wandering through the coast with its bars and restaurants, most of them with live music, is like partying around; and the ubiquitous presence of the sea with its blue and transparent waters are a constant invitation to plunge.
If you see groups of people, of any age, taking pictures in front of a small Florentine style palace while you stroll down the cheerful coast, dont doubt it: you are standing in front of the late Gianni Versaces house. One of Miami Beachs most appreciated areas is its Art Deco district, in front of Miami's long south beach, with buildings of Italian Renaissance style combined with futurist designs of cafés and restaurants crowding the sidewalks of the famous Ocean Drive avenue. During our long walk across South Beach, it was very pleasant to suddenly find ourselves in the middle of a rural beach market, in the area of Lincoln Road, located between the streets of Pennsylvania and Euclid. It was a kind of an evening party where one could buy a great variety of exotic fruit and flowers, enjoy musical improvisations of local talented artists, and afterwards sit under a colored sunshades in the entrance of one of the many cafés to savor an excellent coffee.

In Down Town, we took the little train that goes around this sector where the greatest financial activity of Miami takes place, with big hotels and many stores, restaurants, and cafeterias. We still had time to visit the exclusive Bayside, where the rich and famous arrive in the yachts to do their shopping, with its great designer clothing stores, elegant restaurants, and cafés. Moral: Dont miss for anything the chance to live an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. Arriving at the Coral Gables neighborhood is meeting fabulous houses dressed of Spanish Mediterranean, buying books and records where the experts do, strolling down important shopping centers like Miracle Mile and Miracle Center to finally enjoy the Florida cuisine, which is a mixture

of Caribbean and local cuisine.

To define Miami, you have to think of huge swamps, a

lot of tropical vegetation, exotic birds, swift sailing

canals and, of course, the sea. When the sea joins

the beautiful sky, it fills you up with blue

happiness. In the park next to the front side of the

bay, Bayfront Park, tourists board different types of

ships to watch the citys profile from the sea.

We keep on walking and arrive at Coconut Grove, where the first stone of the prosperous Miami was settled. The area is distinguished for its countless events and festivities, everyday here is a holiday. The streets of Mayfair offer stores like The Gap and Banana Republic, restaurants like Café Picaso, and entertainment centers like Planet Hollywood and the Cobb movie theaters.
Walking through CocoWalk shopping center in Grand Avenue is a great experience. Miami also has a natural paradise to spend a day in, called Parrot Jungle. Among hundreds of plants, everything from big banana trees to cactuses, you can visit the flamingo lakes, the interesting monkey exhibition, and the zoo of pet animals.
In Parrot Bowl, macaws, cockatoos, and trained parrots make the day for kids and grown ups; these funny birds can ride bikes, play cards, and do thousands of other tricks.
