Death´s day celebration,
a millenary tradition.
We arrived to the town of San Andres Mixquic to the Death´s Day celebration.
Mixquic is in a delegation called Tlahuac,
on the south-east of Mexico city. It foundation was at theend of the XII century,
in an island of the antique lake of Xochimilco.
The name means "place of who cares the water".
"The Death´s Day has stayed faithful to its essence in Mixquic,
getting famous for this reason.
The traditionals skulls of amaranth, symbolice, one more time, the mexican tradition of "eat the death".
In the altars of deaths, can´t wanting the cempasuchil flowers, the fire candles and the favorite food of the blames when they were on life.
The families of San Andres Mixquic prepare the altars for blames and the offerings to invite them to visit their old homes.

The popular creed says the souls begin to arrived to the town the 1rst. of November at 12 o´clock, when the sun passes for the zenith.

The 2nd. of November at 4:00 we listened the bells of the order of the "Agustinos" convent and the families of Mixquic go in silence to the cementery where, between cempasuchil flowers, gladiolus and burn candles, will pray for the souls of their blames.

We found 15,000 visitors who attended with wonder the festivity.

It is a meritorious place to be visited and its environs, where you can find convents, chapels, temples and parishs that date from the XVI century.
