This traditional and populous quarter in the south of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentine, founded in the last century, supplied all cities with tango and lumfardism (a parallel idiom belonging to the place). Its cafes and joints where music was played and one could dance that dance that in those days was not well looked upon, were famous. It was the cradle of the great popular argentine artists, amongst them the musician Juan de Dios Filiberto, author of the tango "Caminito". Today there are institutions, especially academic, that maintain the tradition of the old quarter; it has a street (Caminito) which has become a tour for visitors, decorated with statues, reliefs and plaques of famous singers and dancers. Also on this street the zinc color paint on the houses is very peculiar. Dominating the scenery is the football stadium of Athletic Boca Juniors, one of the most popular clubs in the world.
