In the Artesanal Market

Saint Telmo is what is left in modern Buenos Aires, Argentine of the old colonial entrails. Until the beginning of the 70's in the 19th century, it was the quarter of the upper Buenos Aires class until and epidemic of yellow fever decimated the capital and its inhabitants moved towards the highly valued North Quarter. Today it is the only part of the city with uniform colonial characteristics (narrow sidewalks, wrought iron windows, cobblestone streets, deep patios, etc.). Noteworthy is "El Viejo Almacén" one of the most famous tango places in the city. Sundays Saint Telmo organizes an arts and crafts fair next to the principal plaza.
