Huey Atlixcoyotl. In front of the Popocatépetl, people and habits united to celebrate Quetzalcóatl god.

During the month of September in the central plaza of Atlixco in the State of Puebla, this peculiar feast takes place where the inhabitants of the nearby villages all attend bringing with them their different customs -music, gastronomy, dances, etc. The main attraction of the feast, and a most dangerous one are the flying indians who climb up a pole whose height is 35 Mts.. At the very top and in the center the chief lies facing the sky while the rest perform 13 downward circles until they get to the ground, held by a rope tied to their feet. This feast is in honor of the God Quetzalcóatl giving thanks for the harvest season which is to begin.
