Masks exist in Mexico for at least 3 milleniums. Their use in Pre-hispanic times joined that which was brought by the Spaniards and such a fusion gave way to many uses: for hiding, protection, liberating, transforming, disguising, acting and to empower he that wears it. Today masks appear in the popular feasts with a mystic and religious sense. The expressions on these are endless and full of fantasy -smiling masks, malevolent, with horns and ears of diabolical animals, all kinds may be found, but always they are works of art.
