Cotton man,the kids delight .

Mexico City is the setting for a great many characters who liven up the streets giving them a unique atmosphere: there is the Organ grinder (an authentic species in danger of extinction as the few hand organs that remain were manufactured in Germany between the end of the last century and the beginning of the 20th) who each morning is out with his partner filling the city with nostalgic tunes. The Old Photographer always ready with his ancient wooden camara to photograph passerbys. The Cotton Man who weaves fine threads of sugar tinted pink or blue, manufacturing a delicious cotton candy for the children. The Balloon Man, who looks as if at any moment he'll begin rising by the amount of balloons, in all shapes, sizes and colors he carries around. The Shoeshine Man who offers a folkloric comfort in a highchair, a current newspaper and some spicy conversation while he shines your shoes. The Knife sharpener, who upon hisbycicle will do his rounds along the streets offering his services sharpening knives, scissors, etc. The Yam Vendor who comes out at dusk, so that the fire in his cart is noticeable, ringing his steam whistle as he walks down the streets.
