Civilians, soldiers, and firefighters working among the rubble that was left of Hospital General on Cuauhtemoc avenue.

On September 19th, 1985, Mexico City lived one of the most dramatic moments of its history. An earthquake of more than 8 degrees in the Richter ' scale shook the Valley of Mexico. The results of the telluric movement were tragic.
Hundreds of people were buried under the rubble of multifamily buildings, hospitals, offices, schools, factories, and businesses, while other not luckier ones lost their homes.
That morning was filled with moments of pain and confusion. Nevertheless, help was on its way. Firefighters, police officers, ambulances, and the army immediately came to the rescue of those in need. But each moment that passed
by more and more people were disappearing and buildings were being damaged.
The whole city: Students, professionals, parents, young and old voluntarily helped out.
In spite of the arduous, restless work and of the effort everyone put in, more than one thousand people died or disappeared that tragic morning.
