In Tepeapulco, a village in the State of Hidalgo, near City Sahagún, the Franciscan convent of the 16th century which is intact, is quite surprising. Also noteworthy is the Water Box built in 1545 (source of water for the town) and supposedly the House of Cortés, where it is said he took refuge after the tragic Sad Night. Very near Tepeapulco is the archaeological zone of Jihuingo, of Teotihuacan influence, where the Pyramid of the Owl is outstanding. Another point of interest around this region is the Tecocomulco Lake, a sanctury for migrating birds
