This Mexico City zoo dates from 1923 and is located in the first section of Chapultepec Park. Between 1992 and 1994 it was remodeled under the direction of the architect Ricardo Legorreta. 17 hectares of installations were inaugurated, where the traditional cages were removed to be substituted by metallic mesh and glass panes and thus achieve an ideal habitat for the animals and better attention to visitors, which places this zoo among the 10 best in the world. With 26 square meters of paths almost 1300 animales (220 different species, some in danger of extinction) may be seen in over 100 display areas.
