Colombian box of oriental influence, done with varnish.

Novo-Hispanic art is a concept that does not reproduce European shapes but instead uses them as a starting point only to later interpret them. Indigenous cosmovision, together with outstanding artistic virtues, was translated into frequent iconography alterations. As an example therere the crosses that hold obsidian mirrors or flowers bouquets grouped as a tuft.
Another one of the Mexican baroque characteristics is the strong decorative tendency praising color, happiness, and sense of humor. The volume, color, quilt, glazed multicolored tile, and polychrome stucco game give shape to an imaginative feast that flow into more and more sophisticated levels of creation. On top of it all there was the oriental influence contributing to the greatness of Mexican art.
Down the paths along which the sun was always present, the art never stops furnishing surprises in the most hidden of places.
